When: Wednesday, November 6th, 5:30-8pm

Difficulty: No patternmaking experience required. This class does not go over fabric cutting or sewing, but help is provided during Open Studio times if needed with those later steps.

This class is a helpful intro to clothing construction from the 3D to 2D perspective.

About:
Have a shirt you absolutely love but would also love in a vintage fabric? Favorite pants falling apart? Fear not! This class shows you how to create a sewing pattern based off a garment you already own & want to recreate. We'll go over:
-Ways to copy the pieces that make up your garment (from cutting apart to damage-free copying options)
-How to best label & annotate your new pattern pieces
-What info you need to copy (seam allowance, grainline, etc)
-Ways to analyze how your garment was sewn

Materials:
Bring a garment(s) you'd like to copy, paper & patternmaking tools provided! A long sleeve button up shirt or basic pants will take around 2hrs.  Feel free to bring extra just in case you're fast!

Instructor:

Emelia (she/her) has been running Summit Selvage full time since August 2022 as a sewing instructor, tailor, designer, and clothing mender. Before that, she worked as a workwear designer and has enjoyed teaching others to sew for close to 10 years.
