Difficulty: No sewing experience required
About: The first 30 minutes of class will cover how sewing machines work, common troubleshooting tips, and how to sew a basic seam. We will then go over how to choose the best hem type and sew practice hems. Bring in a garment for the last 30 minutes of class to hem yourself:)

Materials
All materials and machines are provided, but feel free to bring your own if you'd prefer! Please bring a hem project to work on the last 30min of class.
Instructor:
Emelia (she/her) has been running Summit Selvage since May 2022 as a sewing instructor, tailor, designer, and clothing mender. Before that, she worked as a workwear designer and has enjoyed teaching others to sew for close to 10 years.
Space/Accessibility:
Location: New location! Summit Selvage is located at 1812 E Madison Street, Unit 30 in East Capitol Hill. The door code will be sent out the day before the class.
Transit: There are a limited number of parking spots right in front of the building (labelled for clients and tenants), and free street parking in the neighborhood. The 12 bus stop is 1 block away on Madison St.
Accessibility: There is a ramp to enter the building, and a short flight of indoor carpeted stairs to go to the lower floor where the studio is. Bathrooms are located on the main floor. There is also a side entrance available with three outdoor steps to the lower floor, please email beforehand if that entry is preferred.
Covid: Masks are required during class time
Ticket Policy: Your receipt is your ticket. Let me know if you're unable to make the class as soon as possible! Full refunds given up until 2 weeks before class time, class credit given two weeks to two days before class time.
