When: Thursdays, September 26th-October 24th (5 sessions), 5:30-8:30pm

About: Learn how to sew your own jacket! This class goes over reading patterns, cutting out fabric, sewing and finishing seams, and sewing zippers and closures.

Skill Level: Sewing machine experience is helpful but not required. 

Schedule:

Making it to all 5 classes is preferable, but make up time will also be available during Open Studio sessions. 

September 26th: Choosing your pattern size, adjusting the pattern, cutting out fabric

October 3rd Sew shoulder seams, sleeve seams, prepare pockets, attach pockets

October 10th: Sew side seams, prepare collar and cuffs

October 17th: Attach zipper, attach collar

October 24th: Attach cuffs, hem, add cuff snaps                                            

    Materials

    All machines and sewing supplies are provided, please purchase (and pre-wash) your fabric (to avoid shrinkage later on)

    Fabric recommendations: You may need to purchase more if the fabric has an up/down pattern or texture. Suggested fabric: Anything woven and medium weight! Corduroy, cotton duck, microsuede, waxed canvas, upcycled curtains & blankets! 

    45" wide fabric/60" wide fabric

    XXS-SM: 1.5yds/1.25yds

    MD-XL: 2yds/1.75yds

    2XL-4XL: 2.5yds/2.25yds

    5XL-7XL: 3yds/2.75yds

    Instructor:

    Emelia (she/her) has been running Summit Selvage full time since August 2022 as a sewing instructor, tailor, designer, and clothing mender. Before that, she worked as a workwear designer and has enjoyed teaching others to sew for close to 10 years. 

    Space:

    Summit Selvage is located on the corner of 1432 12th Ave and Pike St in Capitol Hill, Seattle. The entrance door code for the 12th Ave side will be sent out before class. The space is down the stairs and the last door on your left. The basement is shared with dance studios, and has unisex bathrooms on the third floor. Parking is a big challenge, but luckily we're 1 block from the 2, 12, and 11 bus stops, as well as .5 miles from the lightrail station.

    Covid: Masks are currently recommended 

    Ticket Policy: Your receipt is your ticket. Let me know if you're unable to make the class as soon as possible! Full refunds given up until 2 weeks before class time, class credit given two weeks to one week before class time.
