When: Monday, October 28th, 5:30-8:30pm

Difficulty: No sewing experience required, but a little bit is helpful!

About:The first 15 minutes of class will cover how sewing machines work, common troubleshooting tips, and how to sew a basic seam. We will then go over how to do common outdoor gear & clothing repairs. The last 30-45min of class will be for completing a quick personal project of your choosing. Please bring some outdoor gear (clothing, other textile-based products) for us to look at & get guidance on fixing during class.

  • Troubleshooting tips
  • How to sew a basic seam

Repairs we'll cover:                                                                                                    

  • Zippers-when to repair or replace, and how!
  • Hardware-snaps and buckles
  • Patches-Sew on & iron on
  • Ripped seams
  • Waterproofing

Materials

All materials and machines are provided, but feel free to bring your own if you'd prefer! Option to bring a quick repair project to work on the last 30-45min of class. 

Instructor:

Emelia (she/her) has been running Summit Selvage full time since August 2022 as a sewing instructor, tailor, designer, and clothing mender. Before that, she worked as a workwear designer and has enjoyed teaching others to sew for close to 10 years. 

Space:

Summit Selvage is located on the corner of 1432 12th Ave and Pike St in Capitol Hill, Seattle. The entrance door code for the 12th Ave side will be sent out before class. The space is down the stairs and the last door on your left. The basement is shared with dance studios, and has unisex bathrooms on the third floor. Parking is a big challenge, but luckily we're 1 block from the 2, 12, and 11 bus stops, as well as .5 miles from the lightrail station.

Covid: Masks are currently recommended 

Ticket Policy: Your receipt is your ticket. Let me know if you're unable to make the class as soon as possible! Full refunds given up until 2 weeks before class time, class credit given two weeks to two days before class time.The entrance door code for the 12th Ave side will be sent out before class.
